Swaps: rates, fees and cross-chain timing
Swap one coin for another, on the same network or across networks. Here is what Dbanq shows before you approve a swap, and what happens while it completes.
How a swap works
Choose the coin and network you have, and the coin and network you want. Dbanq finds a route: on the same network, or across networks when the two are different. A swap across networks is often called cross-chain.
What you see before you approve
- The rate, and the amount you will receive.
- The fees, including network costs.
- The estimated time to complete.
Quotes can expire. If a quote runs out before you approve, Dbanq asks you to confirm a new one.
While a swap completes
A swap on one network usually completes quickly. A cross-chain swap can take a few minutes. Until the coins arrive, the amount shows as pending, and it is not available to spend.
Rates can move until a swap completes. Check the amount you will receive before you approve.
Good to know
- Swaps cannot normally be reversed once complete.
- If a route fails, the funds return or stay pending until the swap completes or is refunded.
- Costs depend on the route and the networks involved.
